May 2023 Updates

Introducing the new Barn at Thorpe House.
We are pleased to say the barn is now open and has been registered for five additional beds.
This means that we will be welcoming new residents to
Thorpe House in the near future.
What We’ve Been Up To
We celebrated Easter this month with our traditional Easter bonnet competition- with eight bonnets to choose from it was difficult to crown a champion! The friendly competition was followed by cookie decorating (and sampling!). The OT department have started several new clubs throughout the week, including self-serve breakfast clubs, gardening and well-being. We also had a visit from the University of Huddersfield Dance Society who put on a lively performance for the staff and residents. They also chose Thorpe House to raise funds for as part of their annual bake sale, very generously donating a £200 Hobbycraft voucher for the residents
King’s Coronation
A full weekend of festivities have been planned at Thorpe House, and we would like to invite you to join us for the fun. On Monday 8th May we are hosting an Afternoon Tea to celebrate and would be delighted for friends and family to join.
If you are interested in attending. Please contact laurenshipman@thorpe.house, or teddycroft@thorpe.house to discuss dietary requirements.
Finally, congratulations to our Nutritionist, Teddy, who has been recognised for her contributions to an infographic raising awareness about disordered eating in care homes! This project involved many highly rated practitioners, including Ursula Philpott who was complimentary about Teddy’s contribution and direct involvement in a care home.
